About the opportunity

As an Occupational Therapist at ARRH, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred clinical services to a diverse caseload, ensuring optimal health outcomes for patients and carers. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will deliver evidence-based care across hospital wards, rehabilitation, community OT, and-depending on service needs - paediatrics or hand therapy outpatients.

You’ll be part of a friendly, experienced team of junior and senior clinicians, an Allied Health Assistant and an Administrative Assistant, all committed to professional growth, collaboration and high standards of care. This role offers flexibility, strong professional support, and the chance to broaden your skills across varied clinical areas in a thriving rural health setting.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing patient-centred care, assessment and intervention across surgical/orthopaedic, medical, rehabilitation inpatient and community caseloads.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (physiotherapy, social work, speech pathology, dietetics, discharge planners, nursing and medical staff) to support safe and effective care planning and discharge.
  • Ensuring care is aligned with best practice, NSQHS standards and professional guidelines.
  • Engaging in professional development, supervision and continuous improvement activities.
  • Working within scope, seeking guidance from senior clinicians as needed, and contributing to a positive team culture.

     

About you
 

  • You are an enthusiastic, organised and motivated Occupational Therapist with a passion for rural health and a commitment to compassionate, person-centred care. You bring:
  • AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills to manage competing clinical demands.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, ongoing learning and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and promote the value of OT within the broader service.
  • Alignment with the CORE values of Hunter New England Health: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
