The role
The Breast Centre at the Royal Hospital for Women provides specialised state of the art diagnostic assessments and treatment of breast conditions whom are referred by their GP or specialist. The Breast Centre coordinates delivery of specialised support services across the continuum of care, including hereditary care clinics in collaboration with Prince of Wales Hospital, preoperative procedures, prophylactic surgery for people at high risk of breast cancer.
The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the day to day management of the Breast Centre. The Nursing Unit Manager will coordinate and conduct all Breast Clinics. The role includes coordination of assessment and the multidisciplinary meeting; education and follow up of patients; assisting with diagnostic procedures and maintenance of stock and equipment levels.
The Nursing Unit Manager will liaise closely with the Breast Nurses and Director of the Breast Centre and function as a key member of the multidisciplinary team.
The Nursing Unit Manager interacts with patients and the multidisciplinary team to achieve the Hospital mission of providing care in partnership with women. The NUM 1 will recognise the changing needs of women engaging with the Hospital and ensure a focus on person-centred care and best practice.

Selection Criteria
- Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia.
- A demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services.
- Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to engage, enable and manage teams.
- Proven ability in innovative clinical service delivery, harm minimisation and practice development.
- A demonstrated understanding of quality improvement and the ability to manage change.
- A proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and demonstrable negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
