The NSW Public Health System Nurse' & Midwives' (State) Award states that the Nurse Unit Manager is 'the Registered Nurse in charge of a ward or unit or group of wards or units in a public hospital or health service or public health organisation' and is responsible for the coordination of patient services, unit management and staff management.
