What you'll be doing
As the Nurse Unit Manager (N/MUM), you will lead nursing services within the Day Only and Short Stay Unit, balancing clinical excellence with operational efficiency. You’ll be pivotal in coordinating care, managing resources and developing a capable, engaged nursing workforce.
In this role, you will:
Manage, lead and coordinate patient care to ensure safe, high‑quality outcomes
Oversee ward operations, workforce planning and budget accountability
Lead, coach and develop nursing staff through effective leadership
Ensure safe, efficient nursing and midwifery practice aligned with standards
Drive patient flow and service delivery in a busy specialty environment

Essential Requirements
Registration: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (NSW Registered Nurse – Division 1)
Selection Criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications in management and/or specialty, or working towards attainment in same, or extensive management experience in the field that demonstrates ability to perform the role.
Recent relevant clinical and management experience deemed appropriate by WSLHD
Demonstrated recent experience and understanding of financial management and accountabilities in relation to stock and effective budget utilisation.
Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to patient care
Demonstrated ability to lead change that results in sustained improvements in patient care, throughput and resource utilisation.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated conflict resolution experience.
