What you'll be doing
As the Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Transitional Nurse Practitioner (TNP), you'll provide expert clinical leadership and advanced autonomous care for patients with advanced chronic kidney disease, kidney transplantation and kidney-pancreas transplantation. You will practise to the full scope of your advanced clinical capability while working collaboratively with an experienced multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
In this role you will:
Conduct advanced comprehensive assessments, diagnose, prescribe, request and interpret investigations, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
Manage patients through pre-transplant assessment, waitlist optimisation and long-term post-transplant care.
Lead complex clinical decision-making while supporting patients and families through every stage of their transplant journey.
Drive quality improvement, research, education and clinical excellence across the renal transplant service.
Mentor nursing colleagues and contribute to developing innovative models of care and clinical pathways.
About You
You are a passionate advanced practice nurse who thrives in complex clinical environments and enjoys working collaboratively to improve patient outcomes.
You will bring:
Extensive experience in renal, kidney transplant or advanced nephrology nursing.
Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or equivalent (or currently working towards completion).
Exceptional clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning and autonomous decision-making skills.
Proven leadership, education, research and quality improvement experience.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
Transitional Nurse Practitioners are encouraged to apply. While completing endorsement requirements, this position will be remunerated at Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 until Nurse Practitioner endorsement is achieved.

Essential requirements:
Registration: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (NSW Registered Nurse – Division 1)
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated expert knowledge and application of skill required in contemporary kidney, and kidney pancreas transplant nursing practice, including expert knowledge and skills in patient assessment and treatment.
Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or a qualification at a Master’s level deemed equivalent or working towards.
Demonstrated excellent leadership, teaching and collaborative skills with evidence of participation in research/quality activities. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Member of a relevant professional body (College of Nursing), Royal college of Nursing, College of Nursing Australia, Renal Society of Australasia, Australian College of Nurse Practitioners.
