About the Role:
Step into an exciting new opportunity as the Nurse Practitioner – Palliative Care at Maitland Hospital. This brand-new role offers the chance to shape and deliver advanced, evidence-based palliative care within an extended scope of practice. You’ll provide high-quality clinical care that improves patient comfort, enhances continuity, and increases timely access to specialist support. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a brand-new Nurse Practitioner Model of Care for Maitland Hospital and the local community.

In this role, you’ll build meaningful connections across acute and community settings, working closely with primary palliative care providers, hospital teams, and other health professionals to deliver a coordinated and seamless model of care.

You’re an experienced, values-driven clinician ready to take on an influential role in Palliative Care. Grounded in advanced nursing practice, you bring initiative, innovation, and a commitment to delivering compassionate end-of-life care.
You demonstrate:
- Strong clinical and professional leadership in Palliative Care
- Advanced communication, decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Confidence developing and shaping evidence-based policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
- A collaborative approach that strengthens relationships across multidisciplinary teams

Essential Requirements:
- Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and current endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner or, if transitional, evidence of substantial progress towards endorsement. If not endorsed, the Transitional Nurse Practitioner will be appointed temporarily (up to 3 years) to work towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Post Graduate qualification in Palliative Care or evidence of working towards attainment with at least 5 years full time post registration experience.
