About the Opportunity
Mental Health Services SWSLHD is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Nurse Manager who can effectively coordinate patient flow demand and activity across the service.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, with the ability to develop the potential of others and provide direction and support to staff, serving as a resource person and role model in the clinical setting.
Demonstrated experience in patient flow management, along with a deep understanding of key performance indicators in this area, is essential.
The Nurse Manager should also have the ability to identify critical clinical issues related to patient flow management, with a focus on enhancing clinical services and improving health outcomes.
This position offers the unique opportunity to contribute to strategic decision-making and shaping the service. Collaborative in nature, the role fosters a supportive environment that encourages and supports change and innovation, allowing the Nurse Manager to work alongside key stakeholders from various domains within the broader health sector. As the Nurse Manager for Demand and Access, you will lead and coordinate access and demand management strategies across the service, use data and analytics to identify gaps to enhance patient journey and support strategic initiatives that address capacity planning and service accessibility.

What You'll be Doing
The Nurse Manager participates in or is responsible for the leadership and management of nursing services in a management unit, service, complex function or facility to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.

Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide comprehensive care across several facilities, including the newly redeveloped Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. These services offer a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with acute and non-acute mental health needs.
The multidisciplinary teams, consisting of professionals with diverse mental health expertise, deliver exceptional care through specialised units such as the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Adult Acute Unit, and Older People's Mental Health Unit. The service is committed to patient safety and high-quality care, maintaining external accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant post graduate qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD. Recent experience in patient flow with demonstrated understanding and knowledge of patient flow key performance indicators.
- Demonstrated ability to identify key clinical issues related to patient flow management where there are opportunities to enhance clinical services or improve health outcomes.
- Demonstrated senior nursing experience, including leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting, with a proven ability to oversee human, physical, and financial resources to deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally responsive quality care.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team and to represent the nursing service inside and outside the organisation.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and manage conflicts and performance issues when they arise.
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking to set goals, formulate plans and policies to achieve identified outcomes.
- Demonstrated understanding and participation in the implementation of organisational change, risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
