Purpose of the Position
 

To provide clinical consultation services to brain injury patients within the North Shore Ryde Mental Health Service and Royal Rehabilitation service. This will include inpatients and community consumers. This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC). 


The purpose of the position is to: 
- Set up, co-ordinate and oversee a statewide telepsychiatry service for brain injury consumers 
- Supervise registrar associated with this project 
- Contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals 
- Participate in relevant research arising from this role 
- Be responsible for reporting back regularly to the relevant stakeholders regarding the progress of this project 
- Participate in the evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District 
- Participate in regional brain injury site visits where appropriate, to support the development of this service

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist and/or overseas trained substantial specialist pathways. Applicants expecting to be awarded their FRANZCP within 3 months may be considered.
  2. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to or advanced training in Consultation-Liaison psychiatry.
  4. Demonstrated interest and experience in the practice of Brain-injury services.
  5. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written (including computing) and verbal communication skills and experience in working at all levels of the organisation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and research.
  7. Sound track record of working successfully, both autonomously and as part of a team within a continuous improvement framework.
  8. Demonstrated experience in service development. Current driver's licence.
