Position Classification: Post Graduate Fellow
Remuneration: Temporary Full Time
Hours Per Week: 40
Duration: Up to 12 months, expected commencement from February 2027
Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship prior to or within 3 months after the advertised contract commencement date will be considered. For applicants without Fellowship there is potential to commence as Provisional Fellow under the Public Hospital Medical Officers Award (Registrar 4thyear) and on successful attainment of Fellowship transition to a Postgraduate Fellow.
The post graduate fellow does not fulfil the same duties as a specialist; it is a transition position between fellow medical practitioners into specialist roles via a short period of supervision. The post graduate fellow does not exercise independent clinical privileges and is supervised by a specialist medical officer at all times including periods of on-call. The level of supervision is commensurate to their level of experience.
You will provide care and treatment of patients, as a delegate of the specialist medical officer involved in the management of the patient, as part of a multidisciplinary team in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service (the Interventional Radiology Unit of Royal North Shore Hospital). This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD.
This position's workload consists of interventional oncology (ablation, TACE, TAC, SIR-Spheres), trauma, embolization, hepatic, genitourinary, peripheral vascular, vascular access and fistula cases in addition to US and CT interventional radiology.
You will provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.

This position is temporary with the possibility of extension based on performance, funding and need
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship by February 2027 may be considered.

- Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as post graduate fellow in Interventional Radiology including commitment to a career in clinical Interventional Radiology
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Preparedness to participate in any on-call service (under supervision), including on-call rosters already existing or established.
