About the role
Grafton Base Hospital and Clarence Network are seeking a qualified Specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to become the Head of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department. The successful applicant will lead and manage the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, providing contemporary comprehensive best practice specialist services for optimal patient outcomes. This includes leadership that optimises multidisciplinary and inter-departmental cooperation, to efficiently and effectively allocate and manage resources for best patient care. They will also provide and support training to clinicians across relevant disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice. This includes a lead role in accreditation of training programs, and in supporting the wellbeing of doctors in training.

- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, and/or specialist international medical graduate pathways
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience as a Senior Medical Officer in the discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at a site with at least a similar role delineation to the NNSWLHD service.
- Demonstrated recent leadership and management experience, managing staff, financial resources and equipment, with the ability to work with and develop a multidisciplinary clinical team
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time
