This position will provide a unique opportunity to contribute to systems and initiatives in SWSLHD to improve the ability of individuals to obtain, understand, evaluate, remember, and act on health information (Health Literacy).
What You'll be Doing
This position will primarily work with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities to develop and implement evidence-based and/or innovative programs designed to:
- Improve and maintain population health and reduce inequalities in health outcomes for CALD communities.
- Contribute to the implementation of the SWSLHD Health literacy Roadmap and deliver health literacy programs to all communities across SWSLHD
- Raise awareness in local communities of risk factors and health issues, and how to access appropriate services

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, welfare or related social sciences or equivalent experience.
- Can you provide an example of a time you adapted a health promotion program or resource to better meet the needs of a specific cultural group? What steps did you take, and what were the key learnings from that experience?
- Describe a time you had to explain a complex health concept to someone with limited health literacy. What approach did you take to ensure they understood the information, and how did you confirm their comprehension?
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
