MRI Specialist Radiographer (Medical Radiation Scientist) Level 3 Grade 3 (Grad Diploma) or Level 4 Grade 1 (Masters), Prince of Wales Hospital

Applications are invited for 1.0 FTE permanent or temporary, full time/part time Level 3 Grade 3 or Level 4 Grade 1 MRI radiographer position at the Prince of Wales Hospital Medical Imaging Department, part of the Randwick Health and Innovation Precinct. 

  • Applicants with a Post Graduate Diploma specialising in MRI are eligible for grading at Level 3 Grade 3.
  • Applicants with a Masters degree specialising in MRI are eligible for grading at Level 4 Grade 1. 


This campus is one of the largest in Australia. It is affiliated with the University of NSW and is a major tertiary referral centre catering to both paediatric and adult populations. 

The MRI department has 2 Siemens Avanto 1.5T and 1 Siemens VIDA 3T scanners. A second Siemens VIDA 3T scanner is shared with the University of NSW.

The MRI department is open from 8:00 to 21:00 Monday to Friday and 8:30 to 16:30 Saturday and Sunday. 

The successful applicants will be included in the MRI roster and will also be rotated through other areas of the department as required over a 24/7 rotating roster. (Experience in other modalities such as DSA, CT and U/S will be utilised.)  It is expected that, following orientation, the successful applicants will spend a large proportion of their time in MRI and duties will include participation in an on call roster.

Where You'll be Working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
 

  1. Possession of registration as Medical Radiation Practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and appropriate E.P.A. I-14 radiation license to use irradiating equipment for medical diagnostic radiation
  2. Possession of a graduate diploma or post graduate Master in Medical Resonance Imaging by recognised university.
  3. Demonstrated a high level of knowledge and proficiency in complex MRI clinical procedures without supervision.
  4. Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member and provide supervision for other radiographers.
  5. Demonstrate an ability to train and teach qualified and trainee radiographers in MRI and other medical imaging modalities he/she be trained and rostered on.
  6. Demonstrate a level of participation in teaching programmes within and/or outside the establishment.
  7. Demonstrate active participation and involvement in development of MRI techniques and scanning protocols.
  8. Demonstrate a high level of initiative and independence in problem solving.
