What you'll be doing

To provide a medical, clinical and consultancy service in Palliative Care to inpatient and community-based clients and their families that is safe, effective, evidence based and patient centred within the MNCHLD.

  • Work as part of a well established multidisciplinary team.
  • Well established Specialist registrar training program.
  • Education and Development opportunities of all staff from a strong Governance structure who are committed to employees professional development.
  • Co-Host for Rural and Regional education program.
  • Clear Governance structure with a Clinical Director of Palliative Care in place.
  • Work within a district model of care with 4 Specialist in Palliative positions (2 currently advertised across the Mid North Coast)
  • District model also includes 3 Nurse Practitioners across the Mid North Coast.
  • Opportunity to work across Consult, Acute Hospital, Dedicated palliative inpatient unit and community services.
     

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases

If you are applying for a Category A position, under the NSW Health Policy Directive PD2022_030, evidence of current immunity status that complies with the policy must be supplied. 

  

COVID-19 Vaccination Compliancy

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

 

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

    Selection Criteria

    1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Palliative Medicine Physician with Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent specialist recognition (e.g. FAChPM) or due to finish within 6 months.
    2. Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in specialist led Palliative Medicine.
    3. Demonstrated commitment to uphold the philosophies and objectives of the palliative care services.
    4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the palliative care patients and families
    5. Ability to work within and lead a multidisciplinary team.
    6. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining professional education including peer review and other forms of clinical governance and clinical quality.
    7. Demonstrated skills in clinical teaching, research and in evaluation of professional practice service and delivery.
    8. Current drivers licence valid to drive in NSW.
