What you'll be doing
The Midwifery Unit Manager Level 1 (MUM 1) provides management and clinical leadership to the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) and Midwifery Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) at Port Macquarie Base Hospital (PMBH). 

The position ensures the provision of appropriate, well planned and coordinated services to women and their families that reflects current standards of Midwifery practice and Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) policies and procedures. 

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s.  These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

  1. Current registration as a Midwife with AHPRA
  2. Relevant management experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
  3. Extensive knowledge and understanding of Midwifery Continuity Models of Care
  4. Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for the MGP and MAPS services
  5. Ability to act as a primary interface between the NUM2 of the Maternity Service and staff of the MGP and MAPS to support open two-way communication
  6. Demonstrated clinical leadership to ensure a high standard of Midwifery Care within the MGP and MAPS that reflects the use of evidence informed best practice outcomes in accordance with the legal and ethical requirements of AHPRA, NSW Nurses & Midwives Act and policies, procedures and guidelines of MNCLHD and the Australian College of Midwives
  7. Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the MGP and MAPS are managed to deliver safe and efficient woman centred care within the multidisciplinary team and available resources
  8. Current NSW drivers licence
