This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (pro-rata part-time/temporary positions less than 18 months), and a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (pro-rata part time), under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing

  • Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Registered Nurse Recovery performs specialist mental health and drug and alcohol assessment, care planning, case management services for people experiencing mental health and drug and alcohol problems, who are current participants of the Far West Recovery Centre.
  • The Far West Mental Health Recovery Centre is a 10 bed step up/step down inpatient facility that provides care for people with subacute mental illness. It involves a strong collaboration between the Far West Local Health District (FWLHD) and a Non-Government (NGO) that is contracted to operate the service.

How to apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible

  • Current Nursing registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a minimum of two years clinical experience in mental health and/or drug and alcohol.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills both written and verbal, with intermediate computer skills, including use of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person centred care patient care.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a commitment to working with service partners, including carers and NGO's.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work and partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait, Islander patients and families and employees to enhance health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the recovery model and patient centred care.
  • Current licence to drive in NSW.
