About the role:

The Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Mental Health Response Team (Safeguards) is a community based, rapid response and flexible, short-term, multidisciplinary service, delivering skilled, evidence-based interventions to resolve mental health crisis with young people and their families. The service includes comprehensive assessment and brief interventions, such as distress tolerance strategies, safety planning and service navigation/linkage.

You will plan, coordinate, and implement in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within Safeguards Child & Adolescent Mental Health Response Team; to provide high quality, innovative, best practice care to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years, experiencing acute mental health distress.  

You will provide expert clinical support to the team under the leadership of the Safeguards Team Leader and Safeguards Psychiatrist, while supporting clinical governance, management of workflow, consistent with NSW Health, and HNE Health policies, procedures, and standards.  

This role includes responsibilities for consulting across the district in the area of expertise, provision of supervision, leadership of quality improvement initiatives, change management, leadership in evaluation and reporting on services, development of service improvements, development of education tools and the teaching of other health care colleagues and students on clinical placement. 

Requirements:
 

  • Must hold a degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Clinical Psychology or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer, which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association/full registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW.
