Where you'll be working

 
We have several specialised AIN mental health nursing positions across the following sites of Macquarie Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital, including specialist older persons and young person’s units.

Currently there are wonderful opportunity to join the mental health inpatient nursing team at the recently transitioned Northern Beaches Hospital and mental health inpatient units located at Royal North Shore, Hornsby Kuring gai and Macquarie hospital and receive all entitlements offered by NSW Health.

What you'll be doing
The mental health AIN within MHDA Services supports person centered consumer health outcomes with a focus on recovery. The mental health AIN assists the nursing team in the provision of nursing care to mental health consumers within an acute care setting, through directed identified tasks and patient care activities under the direction of RN supporting the consumers recovery. The mental health AIN role supports the RN collecting of health care information, documenting, and communicating the information back to the RN within an identified Mental Health AIN Care Activities Map outlining the scope of practice.

The intention of the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence-based practice and collaboration, recognising each person’s unique journey of recovery in a way that fosters hope, purpose, and resilience.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
  2. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills along with experience working within mental health.
  3. Contemporary mental health, nursing clinical knowledge and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work within a Multidisciplinary team to the scope of AIN.
