What you'll be doing
The principal objective of the Medico-Legal team is to protect the privacy of patients and carers, which includes releasing information in accordance with The Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIPA). 
The Medico-legal Officer is primarily responsible for processing requests for information from patients, third parties and hospital executives for the provision of copies of medical records, medical reports, statements of attendance, deceased paperwork processing, summaries of injury and expert witness statements as permitted and/or directed under current legislation and NSW Health Policies and Directives. 

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Please provide examples from your previous or current employment on how you have demonstrated interpersonal skills whilst working in a team, attending to customers and external stakeholders.
  2. Knowledge, understanding and commitment to legislative requirements relevant to handling and release of health information and ability to apply the same.
  3. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
