Play a vital role in supporting patient care within the fast-paced and high-volume Medical Records Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. The Medical Records Officer is responsible for the retrieval, filing and tracking of paper-based medical records across the hospital. The role involves frequent manual handling activities, including standing, walking, bending, lifting and moving medical records throughout the shift. The position also supports the digitisation of patient health information through the preparation, scanning and quality assurance of clinical documentation for upload into the electronic medical record (eMR). Successful applicants will be required to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and meeting strict service delivery timeframes.
This position operates on a 24-hour, 7-day rotating roster, requiring availability to work morning, afternoon and night shifts across weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Successful applicants must be flexible and available to participate in the full roster in line with operational requirements. Experience using Cerner and/or other Patient Administration Systems will be highly regarded.

Ideal Candidate
- Has experience in a Medical Record Department or similar setting using Patient Administration Systems or client databases, with sound computer skills.
- Ability to work shift work on a rotating 24-hour, 7-day roster.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload to meet set deadlines, learn quickly and adapt to change, and work independently and as part of a team.
