Westmead Hospital is a major tertiary teaching hospital within Western Sydney Local Health District and hosts the largest Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics Department in NSW. The department provides expert medical physics and radiation safety services across WSLHD facilities using both ionising and non-ionising radiation.

What you'll be doing 
The Department of Medical Physics at Westmead Hospital is seeking a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics Registrar. This role offers comprehensive training in Radiology, with the option to extend into Nuclear Medicine Physics over 4.5 years. As the largest Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics Department in NSW, we provide medical physics and radiation safety services across all Western Sydney Local Health District facilities utilising ionising and non-ionising radiation.

We are looking for a motivated, self-driven individual eager to build a career in Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics. In this training-focused role, you will work toward certification as a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physics specialist through the ACPSEM TEAP, gaining essential clinical and academic experience. You will:

  • Progress through ACPSEM DIMP TEAP competencies under supervision

  • Participate in clinical medical physics activities within diagnostic imaging

  • Engage in education programs, professional development and training

  • Undertake research and study as required by the TEAP framework

  • Contribute to patient-focused, safe and effective imaging services

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications: Undergraduate Bachelor's degree with a major in physics. Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) accredited postgraduate degree in medical physics.

  3. Demonstrated well-developed analytical skills

  4. Highly developed and demonstrated interpersonal, written and electronic communication skills

  6. Ability to communicate to a range of audiences

  7. Prepared and able to work outside normal working hours to perform clinical and training duties

  8. Possess a driver’s licence valid in NSW.
