Medical Recruitment Services has a unique opportunity to join a team of passionate and switched on people who recruit and on-board Senior Medical Locums for Hunter New England Local Health District facilities. Immediate work is in the locum space, but we’re seeking candidates who are open to contributing across the team, including perm Senior Medical Officer recruitment or other areas as needed.
About the location
This position and team are based at Waratah Campus in Newcastle, NSW. However, applicants who wish to express their interest in working from other facilities and sites within our District are also encouraged to apply and will be considered. There would be an initial period of orientation and training required in person at Waratah, however further training and ongoing support could also be provided remotely for suitable applicants based in other parts of the District.
About the role
We’re seeking a Senior Medical Locum Recruitment Officer to provide a seamless district-wide senior medical locum service and fill critical vacancies in our facilities.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate, facilitate, and monitor the application of medical recruitment policies.
- Be the central point of liaison between senior doctors, medical recruitment agencies and hospital administration.
- Support projects and research initiatives within the Senior Medical Locum Management Unit to improve service delivery.
- You will work in a satisfying role advertising vacancies, arranging credentialing, making travel arrangements, checking compliance and making sure locums get to where they’re needed most.
- Deliver high-level customer service to senior stakeholders and build strong, collaborative relationships across t Hunter New England Health District.

- You will be a confident and capable team member with:
- Strong communication and intrapersonal skills to liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills to manage a fast-paced environment with a high work volume and changing priorities.
- Meticulous attentional to detail and analytical skills with capacity to oversee reporting and sensitive information.
- The ability to work autonomously and proactively as well as the ability to work within a team to achieve goals and outcomes.
- High level administration skills within the medical or health field is desirable.
- Ability to pick up systems and processes quickly and with ease.
