About the opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Technical Assistant to join our dynamic, multi‑disciplinary laboratory team. We currently have a permanent part time and casual position on offer providing an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop their skills in a professional pathology environment.

You will gain hands‑on exposure to pre‑analytical processes across Chemistry, Haematology and Transfusion testing, making this an ideal role for someone seeking variety, challenge, and career development within a supportive team.

What you'll be doing

Contribute to a high-quality pathology service. Perform a range of pre analytical duties including pathology collections, receiving and triaging of specimens, patient registration and request entry, specimen processing and preparation for transport or delivery to laboratories for timely accurate diagnostic testing.

  1. Certificate III in Pathology, Pathology Collections or Pathology Assistance, and/or previous experience in a pathology setting.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment where there are competing priorities and time constraints.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, internal and external.
  4. Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues.
  5. Proficient computer skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy and the ability to operate and maintain pre analytical equipment.
  6. Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information in a laboratory setting, following relevant legislation, policies, and requirements.
  7. Willingness to participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts
