About the Role
As the Medical Education Support Officer (MESO), you will play an important role in supporting a high-quality, sustainable psychiatry training program across the Hunter New England Local Health District, ensuring the program meets RANZCP standards for training. Working closely with the Director of Training (DOT), Specialist Coordinators of Training (SCOTs) and network governance structures, you will coordinate and facilitate training and educational activities, support doctors in training and contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of the training program. This is a permanent part-time position working 19 hours per week, based at the Calvery Mater Mental Health Campus and is required to be onsite. The position requires availability on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 5pm, with the remaining hours within the week negotiable for the right candidate. You will have the opportunity to work across a range of education, training, coordination and stakeholder engagement activities, including supporting training program governance, developing educational resources, assisting with recruitment and allocations, preparing reports and committee papers, and responding to requests from internal and external stakeholders.
About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and supported team and contribute to the coordination and delivery of a comprehensive psychiatry training program.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate and facilitate a network training program across multiple sites, working closely with the Network DOT, SCOTs and relevant hospital and District Health Service staff.
- Develop (delete), Coordinate, support and evaluate training and educational activities in line with adult education principles and best-practice training models.
- Support the Network Director of Training and assist with the recruitment of psychiatry trainees to vacancies and allocations of junior medical staff.
- Develop and maintain promotional and educational material, including eLearning, website and social media content.
- Participate in working parties and provide high-level executive and secretariat support to local governance and management structures.
- Prepare and distribute committee papers, draft reports and support governance processes.
- Maintain relationships with key stakeholders including RANZCP and HETI and respond to internal and external requests for information.
- Provide assistance to doctors in training regarding College training requirements and professional development, referring issues to relevant individuals where required.
- Maintain awareness of relevant College training policies and procedures, NSW Health/District Health Service policy directives and State Training Council guidelines.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement and delivery of training programs through effective coordination, evaluation and stakeholder engagement.

About You

Essential Requirements
- A qualification in a relevant field and/or suitable experience in the development, delivery, and evaluation of adult educational activities and projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, effective relationships across professional groups.
- Strong organisational skills and proven experience in the management of complex projects and multiple tasks in a timely manner to meet assigned deadlines.
- Previous experience as a manager/supervisor including workplace coaching, feedback, and support.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills that enable the candidate to work effectively in a busy high-volume work environment.
- Effective IT skills to develop and coordinate education sessions, training modules, and online resources in addition to necessary experience with office systems, word processing, and spreadsheet packages
- Experience in and/or broad knowledge of the NSW healthcare system
- A current NSW driver's licence and willingness to undertake occasional travel, including rural training sites.
