What you'll be doing
This role is responsible for leading Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) cancer service medical staff to provide expert medical advice, leadership and management in clinical policy and practice, strategic planning and workforce development.

This position will also provide comprehensive medical oncology services to patients primarily at the Bega Hospital, however at times, may be required to provide outreach services to other locations across the District.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current Registration as a Medical Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with subspecialty training and experience in medical oncology.
  3. Experience in clinical leadership and management and demonstrated ability to work with local clinical teams to lead, and support development.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive, high quality, compassionate medical oncology services and patient care.
  5. Demonstrated ability to actively improve service delivery, initiating change and consulting with those affected by change, including managing potential conflicts.
  6. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, consultation and negotiation skills necessary to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
  7. Commitment to clinical research, including experience in clinical trials.
  8. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive 
PD2023_022.  All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.

All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
