Make a district-wide impact by leading the teams and systems that bring staffing, rosters and budgets together, helping HNELHD services plan and support their workforce with confidence.
About the Opportunity
As Manager, Workforce Systems & Transactions, you’ll lead our Rostering Support and Best Practice, Rural Health Workforce Incentives Scheme, and Staff Establishment and Workforce Support teams. This is a role for someone who enjoys both leading people and working through complex operational challenges. In a busy, high-volume environment, you’ll guide your teams to deliver accurate, timely services and promote best-practice rostering. Working closely with Finance, People and Culture, Clinical Leaders, Managers and HealthShare NSW, you’ll bring staffing profiles, budgeted FTE, StaffLink establishment and HealthRoster demand into closer alignment. This will help managers understand vacancies, manage workforce expenditure and make informed staffing and recruitment decisions, while supporting progress towards agreed savings targets. Your portfolio also spans rural workforce incentive administration, establishment controls, employment compliance and audit responses. By strengthening accountability and improving how these services work, you’ll support accurate workforce information, payroll inputs and reliable services across the district.
About the Role
You’ll bring experience leading a workforce, rostering, payroll, finance or transactional service, along with an understanding of workforce governance, financial controls, compliance and audit requirements. Making sense of workforce and financial information comes naturally. You can connect staffing, establishment, budget and roster data, identify what needs attention and turn your analysis into clear advice and practical improvements. A sound understanding of legislation, awards, policies and industrial requirements will help you guide managers through the operational detail. Clear communication, sound business judgement and a collaborative approach will help you build trusted relationships, advise senior stakeholders, negotiate priorities and influence managers to meet approval, rostering, payroll and audit requirements. You will bring structure and follow-through to your work, keeping projects and reports on track and within agreed timeframes.
About You
We’re looking for a leader who takes the time to understand their people and the work they do. Your leadership will help create a culture where staff feel trusted and supported to raise concerns, share ideas and take ownership. Through clear direction, thoughtful coaching and development, you’ll build capability, confidence and accountability across the teams. By bringing teams and stakeholders together, you’ll strengthen rostering practice and workforce governance. With a strong service focus and the confidence to challenge processes, you’ll lead practical improvements to the everyday services our staff and managers rely on. If you’re a collaborative leader who enjoys making essential workforce services more reliable and effective across a large health district, we’d welcome your application.
