Where you'll be working

SESLHD Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Service offers a range of treatment and support services for people with problems from their alcohol, prescription or illicit drug use, and/or their families and carers. Outpatient D&A services are located in clinics at the Langton Centre in Surry Hills, St George Hospital in Kogarah, and Caringbah Community Health Centre at Sutherland Hospital. Inpatient D&A services are provided at Sydney Hospital, Prince of Wales, St George and Sutherland Hospitals. 


The Role

 
The position manages SESLHD D&A Services clinical research and evaluation activity and resources, as directed by the Director, in line with SESLHD Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services Plan 2017. This involves a leadership role in the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Research Investigators Network (DACRIN), management of multi-site, national, state and local research studies and supporting translational research and evaluation frameworks that promote evidence based practice.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications in health or social sciences relevant to D&A research or demonstrated extensive relevant experience in the drug and alcohol sector.
  2. Demonstrated experience of research and quality improvement processes relevant to D&A services, including literature reviews, consultation, ethics committee applications, data management and report writing.
  3. High level of financial and budgetary experience relating to the allocation and management of research budgets and funding (including Human Resource Management relating to recruitment and salary forecasting).
  4. Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve shared outcomes.
  5. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of hospital staff and patients.
  6. Demonstrated experience in data management, performance reporting, and project management, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within scheduled timeframes.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in a range of computer application systems including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and databases and electronic data capture systems.
  8. Current Driver's License valid in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel across the District.
