Achieve Something Great
The Male Aboriginal Health Worker – Palliative and Cancer Care plays an important role in strengthening the connection between Aboriginal communities and the public health system. In this role, you will support Aboriginal patients and families navigating cancer treatment and palliative care, ensuring services are culturally safe, respectful and responsive to the cultural, social and emotional needs of Aboriginal people.
- Provide culturally safe support to Aboriginal patients and families navigating cancer treatment and palliative care within a public hospital setting.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure care planning recognises cultural needs, family connections and social and emotional wellbeing.
- Identify the health and social support needs of Aboriginal patients and connect them with appropriate hospital and community-based services.
