Where you'll be working
The Armidale Rural Referral Hospital (ARRH) Occupational Therapy Department is part of a multidisciplinary allied health team within a regional referral hospital servicing Armidale and surrounding communities in the New England region of NSW. The department provides a broad range of Occupational Therapy services across acute, subacute, outpatient, and community settings. The team consists of experienced Occupational Therapists of varying levels, allied health assistants, and students on placement. Staff work collaboratively with other allied health professionals, nursing staff, and medical teams to support patient-centred care.
The paediatric service operates within both hospital and community settings, including outpatient clinics, schools, childcare centres, and client homes. The department supports early intervention, developmental assessment, and ongoing therapy for children and families.
ARRH offers a supportive team environment with a strong focus on clinical supervision, professional development, and student education. The service plays an important role in delivering accessible healthcare to a diverse regional population.
The opportunity
This role provides health-related Occupational Therapy services for paediatric clients aged 0–18 years. The position works alongside another part-time Level 3 Occupational Therapist. Key responsibilities include conducting early intervention assessments and ongoing monitoring of children’s development and functional outcomes. The role involves delivering services both onsite within the hospital’s paediatric OT clinic rooms and offsite in clients’ homes, schools, and childcare centres. Additional responsibilities include supervision of students and provision of clinical supervision to junior staff members. The position reports to the Manager of the Armidale Occupational Therapy Department. You will be supported with clinical supervision by a senior Occupational Therapist and Professional development relevant to the role encouraged as part of the HNELHD performance development.
About you
We are seeking a Level 3 Occupational Therapist with at least three years’ experience working with children. The successful candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication and computer skills, capable of working both independently and collaboratively to share a caseload with another Occupational Therapist. Strong time management and organisational skills are essential to effectively manage responsibilities and deliver high-quality client care.
