Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

The Role

Providing a high quality, proactive customer focused library and information service undertaking a full range of library duties in the support of evidence-based practice across SSEH, POWH and RHW.

Responding to enquiries from a range of Library clients with a variety of expectations in a courteous and professional manner in demanding circumstances and by maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. 


Selection Criteria:

  1. Completion of Diploma in Library and Information Studies or equivalent, with eligibility for Library 
  2. Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  3. Demonstrated experience in the use of library management systems, online information tools, the Microsoft Office suite of products and other software products.
  4. Demonstrated ability to undertake detailed work, including data entry with a high level of accuracy.
  5. Demonstrated liaison, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to build relationships across a range of professional and disciplinary areas
  6. Demonstrated experience in advanced searching of bibliographic databases and the internet in support of evidence-based practice
  7. Demonstrated high level analytical and computer literacy skills to assist clients with enquiries related to software packages, email and basic PC troubleshooting
  8. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a professional team; showing initiative, setting priorities, and balancing the demands of a complex working environment
  9. Willingness to travel in the course of employment
