  1. Bachelor of Applied Science (orthoptics) or Post graduate degree in Orthoptics or equivalent which provides eligibility for registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board.
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in the field of paediatric orthoptics, with the ability to work independently and make strong clinical decisions
  3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels.
  4. Demonstrate an ability to learn subspeciality skills such as the insertion and management of paediatric contact lenses
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead ongoing quality improvement activities
  6. Experience with clinical research and clinical in-service education programs to staff and students
  7. Demonstrated high level organisation and time management skills in an environment of competing clinical/administrative demands
