The Role
The Level 1/2 Hand Therapist (Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist) at the Hand Therapy Unit, Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital, is responsible for delivering comprehensive hand therapy services, including patient assessment, treatment, education, referrals, clinical documentation, and data collection. The role involves active participation in multidisciplinary ward rounds, meetings, education, training, quality improvement, research, and student supervision activities, while maintaining current knowledge of best practice in hand therapy.
The therapist contributes to a safe and efficient clinical environment by adhering to workplace health and safety requirements, maintaining equipment and facilities, and collaborating flexibly with colleagues across the service. Physiotherapists also participate in the weekend on-call roster, and all staff are expected to support the broader goals of the Hand Therapy Unit, Hand Unit, Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital, and the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District through additional duties within their scope of competence as required.

Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications standard i.e. Current registration within AHPRA: For Physiotherapists: current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. For Occupational Therapists: current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- Post-graduate Hand Therapy experience
- Demonstrated strong interest in treating hand injuries, including post-graduate experience in casting or splinting
- Demonstrated experience in clinical improvement activities with a willingness and commitment to complete clinical improvement projects
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise a range of written and verbal communication skills and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
