What you'll be doing
This Lead Pharmacist position supports the Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Program at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, ensuring effective antimicrobial use and reducing resistance. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Providing expert support to the AMS Team and contributes to district-wide initiatives.

  • Monitoring, promoting, and optimising antimicrobial use for quality and cost-effectiveness.

  • Overseeing operational aspects, staff training, and adherence to policies and legislation.

  • Ensuring high-quality and safe medication management across the hospitals.

  • May undertake leadership, clinical, and dispensary duties as directed.

Essential Requirements

  • License: Unrestricted Driver License

  • Qualification: Pharmacy qualifications conferred by Tertiary Education Institutions e.g Bachelor of Pharmacy Registration: Full and unrestricted Pharmacist Registration with AHPRA 

 


Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated excellent communication skills both written, verbal and interpersonal skills

  2. Demonstrated experience in clinical pharmacy practice, particularly in the management of infectious diseases

  3. Demonstrated excellent therapeutic knowledge and ability to exercise a high level of initiative in the application of pharmaceutical principles to clinical infectious diseases (including identification and resolution of problems relating to the use of antimicrobial drugs)

  4. Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and manage time to meet deadlines

  5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to effect practice change

  6. Demonstrated skills in information technology: using computer applications including dispensing, database management, accessing medicine information, spreadsheet, and word processing programs

  7. Valid Driver's Licence. This position is mainly based at Blacktown Hospital but may involve travelling to various facilities of WSLHD when required
