What you'll be doing 
In this senior leadership role, you will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative systems and quality improvement initiatives that enhance medication safety and optimise the Quality Use of Medicines across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.

  • Lead and manage medication safety, QUM and pharmacy systems improvement programs, including automated dispensing technologies and emerging digital medication management solutions.

  • Design, implement and evaluate innovative clinical and operational solutions that improve patient safety, service efficiency and quality outcomes.

  • Analyse medication safety data, identify trends and lead targeted quality improvement initiatives using evidence-based practice.

  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders while leading education, training and capability development for pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff.

  • Provide leadership, supervision and strategic direction to pharmacy staff while contributing to key committees and advancing medication safety across the facility and Western Sydney Local Health District.

Essential Criteria

  • Qualification: Pharmacy qualifications conferred by a tertiary institution e.g. Bachelor of Pharmacy and post registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience. 

  • Registration: Registered with no restrictions as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 

 

Selection Criteria

  1. Registered without restrictions as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with post registration clinical or management/leadership qualifications or equivalent skills/experience. Grade 3 Pharmacists must meet the criteria set out in the Health Employees' Pharmacist (State) Award and are expected to continually demonstrate achievement of competencies within the Award. Must be able to participate in flexible work hours, on call, after hours, weekend and public holiday work as required.

  2. Significant experience and a demonstrated high level of competence, expertise, skill and application of clinical judgment in clinical pharmacy services with experience delivering, co-ordinating and providing education and quality improvement activities and working within frameworks to achieve results.

  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated ability to develop high quality written guidelines, procedures, educational, research or business materials.

  4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, team building, influencing, conflict resolution and the building of a positive workplace culture.

  5. Proven ability and commitment to effectively role model, champion and promote teamwork and to supervise and develop staff (both formally and informally).

  6. Demonstrated skills and experience in service planning, including the identification, implementation and evaluation of initiatives to ensure continual quality improvement.

  7. Demonstrated commitment to professional development, continuing education and research including membership of a professional pharmacy association, preferably the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia, and active participation in conference presentations/posters and/or publications (or equivalent professional endeavours).

  8. Commitment to BMDH and WSLHD strategies, with demonstrated behaviours which align with the NSW Health and WSLHD CORE values and Act NSW Health Code of Conduct.
