  • Health Education Officer Grad $1,424.45 - $2,275.91 per week 


In addition to base salary, all roles attract 12% Superannuation + Salary Packaging + Flexible Working (subject to approval)

The Health Promotion Service SWSLHD have an exciting opportunity for a Health Promotion Officer to join the HIV and Related Programs (HARP) Team. We are seeking candidates that are dynamic, engaging and passionate, to deliver targeted programs that strengthen protective factors for blood-borne virus prevention and sexual health. 

You will be highly organised, have excellent time management skills and be a great communicator. To deliver targeted programs to priority populations, the successful applicant will work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders and provide advice and guidance in relation to tailoring projects to the diverse needs of the community.

Are You the Right Fit? 
The ideal candidate will be a committed and proactive Health Promotion Officer with a strong interest in blood‑borne virus prevention and sexual health, and a passion for improving population health outcomes in south western Sydney. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to strengthen protective factors, reduce the health impacts of viral hepatitis, HIV and STIs, and support priority population groups. The role requires the ability to contribute to and/or lead evidence‑based and innovative programs aligned with NSW HIV, STI, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C Strategies, as well as South Western Sydney Local Health District plans, while also supporting broader District and Population Health strategic priority projects. 

 

Selection Criteria 
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below. 

  • Tertiary qualifications in health or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health promotion planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination particularly relating to Blood Borne Virus prevention and sexual health issues and promotion.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of current health promotion theory and evidence-based practice.
  • Understanding of issues that may impact service delivery in priority populations including social disadvantage, Aboriginal and CALD communities.
  • Effective organisational, problem solving and team skills including the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
