BreastScreen NSW is a vital part of the Cancer Institute NSW, delivering high-quality breast cancer screening and early detection services across New South Wales. As part of a nationally accredited program, BreastScreen NSW is dedicated to reducing the impact of breast cancer through accessible, free, and comprehensive mammography services for women. BreastScreen SESI provides approximately 62,000 free screening mammograms annually for the early detection of breast cancer.  Committed to excellence and inclusivity, BreastScreen NSW operates a state-wide network of clinics and mobile screening units to ensure that women, including those in rural and remote communities, can access life-saving screenings. The role

The BreastScreen NSW South Eastern Sydney & Illawarra Screening and Assessment Service is one of the nine Screening and Assessment Services (SASs) coordinated by BreastScreen NSW. This service is offered to women 40 years and over with promotion aimed towards those in the 50-74 year age-group with the aim of reducing breast cancer mortality. Screenings are performed in centres at Sydney CBD, Kogarah, Randwick, Miranda, Bondi Junction, Wollongong, Nowra, Shellharbour and Ulladulla as well as periodic mobile services throughout the area. Follow-up of women with screen-detected abnormalities takes place in weekly Assessment clinics at the Kogarah, Randwick and Wollongong centres. 
 
The Health Promotion Manager is responsible for contributing to the BreastScreen SESI Senior Leadership team and the development and implementation of appropriate strategies to increase community awareness and ensure effective recruitment of the target population for breast cancer screening, in accordance with the guidelines from BreastScreen Australia and BreastScreen NSW.

Selection Criteria

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health promotion and/or public health.
  2. Demonstrated skills and experience in health promotion, including the planning, implementation and evaluation of women's health promotion strategies, preferably in relation to the promotion of mammography screening.
  3. Ability to manage, motivate and coordinate staff members and lead an activity-orientated team.
  4. Demonstrated high level communication (oral, written and presentation) skills, networking and interpersonal skills.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program design and evaluation, health education, community development and liaising with media contacts.
  6. Demonstrated experience and awareness of working with Cultural and Linguistically Diverse communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait lsIander communities.
  7. Experience in the creation of key operational materials internally and/or externally such as strategic documents, evaluation reports and promotional materials.
  8. Current NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel frequently within the South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Shoalhaven areas.
