On offer is a great opportunity to join the NBMLHD Lithgow Hospital Community as a Health and Security Assistant. This position is available on a Permanent Part time basis working 20 hours per week.

This imperative role within the Hospital will see you maintain a high standard of security and documentation of events and assist with the management of aggressive and/or difficult patients and visitors, respond to alarm signals to ensure a safe and secure work environment for staff, patients and visitors.

ndertake cleaning duties to a professional standard and per the local cleaning schedule and perform cleaning duties as rostered in accordance with Ministry of Health Standards and procedures, including terminal cleans, high cleaning, outside cleaning and removal of soiled linen to ensure infection control and quality standards are met.

Working as a team member at Lithgow Hospital will see you communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff, and contractors/suppliers and work to promote a harmonious relations with the team and other services.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Demonstrated knowledge of hygiene, infection prevention and control and environmental cleaning standards. Experience in health care setting or similar is desirable, however not essential.
  2. Demonstrated experience in effectively and safely managing confrontation and aggression.
  3. Hold current NSW Security licence (Class 1A minimum), Senior First Aid Certificate, Class C Drivers’ Licence or eligible for NSW Drivers Licence. Experience in the security industry as a Security Officer is desirable.
  4. Sound knowledge and practical application/commitment to understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles (including manual handling) and the role of the Health & Security Assistant in applying these principles.
  5. Ability to interpret and follow Material Safety Data sheets (MSD's), Safe Work Practices sheets (SWP's) and written instructions
  6. Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a patients and members of the public and within a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/ seven-day rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays
  8. Sound understanding of and commitment to best practice customer service
