Westmead Centre for Oral Health:
Provides general practice and emergency dental care across NSW
Operates advanced clinical and operating facilities
Serves as a key teaching facility for the University of Sydney Faculty of Dentistry

What you'll be doing
As Head of Department – General Practice, you will provide clinical leadership and strategic direction to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based general oral health care and education to eligible patients.
You will:
Provide organisational and clinical leadership, embedding strong governance and patient safety frameworks
Implement workforce plans and national standards to optimise departmental performance
Drive clinical efficiency, resource stewardship and financial accountability
Manage service performance including waitlists, referrals, complaints and productivity targets
Mentor, develop and support clinicians while fostering collaboration across WSLHD facilities
Represent the Department at Local Health District committees, contribute to business case development, and ensure alignment with strategic and operational priorities across the Oral Health Service.

Essential Requirements:
Registration: Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Dentist.
Selection Criteria:
Current Registration with AHPRA as a Dentist.
Demonstrated exceptional competence in general dentistry including proven experience in the management of patients with chronic medical conditions and complex dental needs.
Demonstrated ability to exercise advanced clinical reasoning skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a large multidisciplinary team.
Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures in relation to a clinical service.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including the general public.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to a preventive / population health approach to patient care.
Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior clinicians
