We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Gardener to lead the Gardening and Grounds Maintenance services across Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD). This is a fantastic chance to take ownership of the region’s beautiful hospital and community health grounds, supporting a safe, welcoming and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors and staff.

About the Opportunity

Based primarily at Gosford Hospital, you will oversee gardening operations across the district including Wyong, Long Jetty and Woy Woy facilities. The role involves supervising a small team of gardeners and contractors to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality garden and landscape maintenance services. You will be responsible for both day-to-day operations and the strategic development of sustainable, low-maintenance landscapes. This includes designing and documenting new garden installations, managing equipment maintenance, and ensuring minimal disruption to essential hospital services. In this role you will:

  • Lead and support gardening staff and contractors, ensuring safety and consistency across sites.
  • Plan, develop, and maintain gardens, lawns, and landscapes at multiple CCLHD locations.
  • Design and document sustainable, low-maintenance garden upgrades.
  • Manage equipment, suppliers, and maintenance schedules efficiently.
  • Ensure WHS compliance, complete administrative tasks, and provide horticultural advice to stakeholders.
