About the Opportunity
Are you a passionate Hand Therapist looking to join a highly skilled multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional care? The South Western Sydney Hand Centre, part of the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), is seeking a qualified Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to provide specialised hand therapy services 


This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative environment that includes hand surgical consultants, plastic surgical registrars/fellows, expert nurses, and supportive administrative staff. 

Our clinic specialises in managing acute conditions of the hand, wrist, and forearm, including fractures, soft tissue injuries, wounds, infections, and certain tumours. With access to a fully equipped treatment room and a team committed to excellence, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating recovery and rehabilitation for patients following injury or surgery.

What you'll be doing
The senior Hand Therapist provides clinical governance, leadership and expertise within the SWSLHD Hand Clinic including the provision of safe, timely compassionate and high quality person centered care. This position is responsible for service development and evaluation and advanced clinical reasoning and clinical practice skills in the management of clients of a novel and complex nature.

This position is responsible for the supervision, teaching and training of Level 1/ 2 physiotherapists, allied health assistants and students.

  1. Current Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated high level clinical expertise and knowledge with experience in hand therapy assessment and treatment, including the management of novel and complex presentations, static/dynamic splinting and wound / scar management
  3. Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and clinical education of students
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in quality improvement, evidence based practice, research and service development activities
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs
  6. Demonstrated ability to apply independent professional judgment whilst working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  7. Demonstrated high level organisation and time management skills
  8. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing development in the area of Hand Therapy eg Australian Hand Therapy association full membership / Certified Hand Therapist Qualification / relevant post- graduate qualification or demonstrated willingness to undertake further qualification in Hand Therapy
  9. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
