About the Opportunity
Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Hand Therapist to join our dynamic Allied Health team on a temporary part-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist (Level 3) to lead and deliver specialised hand therapy services within a supportive and collaborative hospital environment.
You will play a key role in managing complex caseloads, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to service development initiatives.
What You'll be Doing
The senior Hand Therapist provides clinical governance, leadership and expertise within the Bankstown Hand service including the provision of safe, timely compassionate and high quality person centered care. This position is responsible for service development and evaluation and advanced clinical reasoning and clinical practice skills in the management of clients of a novel and complex nature. This position is responsible for the supervision, teaching and training of allied health assistants and students. Classifications: Occupational Therapist Level 3, Physiotherapist Level 3. Award: NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award

- Current Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
- Demonstrated high level clinical expertise and knowledge with experience in hand therapy assessment and treatment, including the management of novel and complex presentations, static/dynamic splinting and wound / scar management.
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and clinical education of students.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in quality improvement, evidence based practice, research and service development activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs.
- Demonstrated ability to apply independent professional judgment whilst working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated high level organisation and time management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing development in the area of Hand Therapy eg Australian Hand Therapy association full membership / Certified Hand Therapist Qualification / relevant post- graduate qualification or demonstrated willingness to undertake further qualification in Hand Therapy.
