About us:

GOTIT - Getting on Track in Time - operates as a multidisciplinary team working alongside schools to implement evidence-based interventions tailored for children aged 5 to 8. Our program consists of two main components:

  1. Universal Aspect: We collaborate with schools to provide education and support aimed at the entire school community. This involves delivering professional development, strategies and resources to teachers, and parents, with the aim to benefit all students.
  2. Targeted Program: We work closely with children and their carers to deliver an evidence-based program and specialised interventions in a small group setting. Through a multidisciplinary approach we provide tailored support to address specific needs and challenges faced by children in this age group.

Our program typically spans approximately one school term, during which we engage with schools and families to implement effective interventions and support systems.

Support for our staff includes clinical supervision, team-wide supervision, and debriefing sessions with the Newcastle team.

About the role:

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience and proficiency in conducting group sessions as well as providing one-on-one support to both children and parents. Responsibilities will include conducting mental health assessments with parents and teachers as part of the intake process, collaborating with stakeholders on referrals, delivering therapeutic sessions with immediate families, and presenting professional development plans to schools and parents with topics including anxiety, sensory regulation in classrooms and understanding brain development and trauma. The aim of our program is to develop social and emotional awareness in an attachment style therapy.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Clin Psychology/clin psych in training, Nursing, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental health, Djirruwang Program), Nutrition and Dietetics which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant
    professional association general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. For a CNS2: relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years experience working in the clinical area of a post-graduate qualification.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment.

About the location:

  • Our office is based in Forster with a flexibility to work out of Taree.
  • The Manning Community Mental Health Team provides mental health services to Bulahdelah, Gloucester, Forster and Taree, located on the Lower Mid North Coast.

  • This position is full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.
