About the Role

You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). The Genetic Counsellor provides genetic information and counselling to clients and their families, organises appropriate genetic tests under supervision of a clinical geneticist/relevant medical officer and provides support to individuals and families to minimize the impact of a genetic diagnosis.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must have an undergraduate degree in a non-nursing, non-medical discipline and in addition hold a post graduate qualification in genetic counselling and board eligible with the Board of Censors for Genetic Counselling (Human Genetics Society of Australasia) and a commitment to work towards full certification.
  • Skills and knowledge in the provision of genetic counselling services and demonstrated experience in a clinical genetic unit.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
