We are recruiting for highly skilled General Medicine Visiting Medical Officers (VMO) keen to deliver exceptional, patient-focused care across our inpatient and outpatient settings. This is an outstanding opportunity to join us at John Hunter Hospital (JHH), a major tertiary referral centre renowned for clinical excellence, innovation, and training. 

Plus...opening in 2026, the new state of the art Acute Services Building will integrate emergency, critical care, surgical and inpatient services, enhancing patient flow, safety and experience while providing contemporary spaces that support high acuity care and future growth.
 

The Opportunity with us
As a General Medicine VMO, you will:
• Provide high-quality, patient-centred care for a broad range of general medical conditions
• Manage diverse case-mix across inpatient and outpatient services
• Contribute to coordinated care across Hunter New England Health and surrounding communities
• Play a key role in promoting safe, efficient, and innovative models of care
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team in a progressive and well-supported environment
 

About You
You will bring:
• A primary medical degree with current AHPRA registration
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) – General Medicine
• Demonstrated expertise with recent, comprehensive clinical experience in General Medicine
• Experience in, or a strong understanding of, service improvement and models of care delivery
• A commitment to clinical excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement
