What you'll be doing
To ensure the effective and efficient provision of high grade health care services, in line with the organisational objectives, corporate and business plans of the NSLHD, the General Manager will lead, direct, plan and manage: 

  • Mona Vale Hospital (MVH)
  • The Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH), Manly.
  • Facilities management of Brookvale Community Health Centre (CHC) and Dalwood CHC.

The position is accountable for the provision of a comprehensive range of services, focussing on Aged Care, Rehabilitation, Palliative Care and the Urgent Care Centre (UCC). This will include: 
Undertake on-going strategic and operational management of the AYAH to create a centre of excellence for Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) with life limiting illnesses 
Establish a performance framework for the AYAH including clinical governance indicators, activity and financial performance 
  
The position is responsible for representing MVH/ The AYAH and ensuring appropriate liaison with local services including building effective working relationships and partnerships. These include public and private hospitals within the LHD community and other health service providers, education, police and government in the establishment, development, implementation and evaluation of the services and programs, which improve the health and wellbeing of the local community. 
  
The position participates as a member of the NSLHD Executive Team in the development of the broader clinical strategy, policy and decision making. 
  
Primary objectives of the role include:

  • Initiating, developing and managing the plans, strategies, policies and systems for MVH/ the AYAH which are aligned with LHD strategies and policies and to monitor and evaluate service performance levels against benchmarks.
  • Overseeing the operations of MVH/ the AYAH to ensure effective utilisation of available resources and control of service and capital costs.
  • Implementing a clinical governance framework, quality and safety systems aligned to NSLHD Frameworks and strategic direction.
  • Marketing and promoting MVH/ the AYAH in the community, to highlight achievements, raise awareness of available services and maintain a high community profile. 
  • Monitoring and analysing international, national and state health directions and trends, current and future client needs, in order to contribute to clinical operation policy development and effectively plan for any impact on MVH/ the AYAH and its associated community 


 People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply. 

 Candidates will need to meet the following criteria: 

  1. A degree in a relevant field (e.g. health administration, management, commerce, humanities, planning, economics) or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience. Proven record of experience and leadership of a complex organisation, encompassing community service development, finance administration, people management and delivery of health services in a multi-disciplinary work environment.
  2. Describe a significant leadership role where you were accountable for the overall performance of a complex organisation or health service. How did you balance strategic priorities, operational demands, financial sustainability and service quality, and what measurable outcomes did you achieve?
  3. Provide an example of a major organisational change initiative you have led. How did you engage clinicians, staff, consumers and other stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and ensure the successful delivery of the intended outcomes?
  4. This role requires strong partnerships across health services, government, community organisations and consumers. Describe a situation where you successfully built and leveraged strategic relationships to improve service delivery, patient outcomes or organisational performance. What was your approach and what were the results?
