Fixed Term (Until 30 June 2027) Visiting Medical Officer - Anaesthetics

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions in the Western Sydney Local Health District. This position will be primarily located at Auburn Hospital within the Department of Anaesthesia.
Successful applicants will be expected to provide a full range of anaesthetic and acute pain services for a variety of surgical procedures including obstetrics and some paediatrics e.g. ENT procedures.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District.
Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Fee for Service Contracts) Determination 2014.
Applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship within 6 months are eligible to apply.

Selection Criteria
1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
2. Sound clinical knowledge in Anaesthesia and acute management demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
3. Evidence of Continuing Medical Education and self-monitoring/audit practices that are commensurate with the Scope of Practice requirements of the position.
4. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
5. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department. Post-graduation higher degree holders are preferred.
