Selection Criteria

Please outline how you satisfy the selection criteria listed below. In addressing the selection criteria, include any relevant skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience:

1.    Qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice in the specialty. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency, or be eligible.

2.    Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty.

3.    Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:

·         Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.

·         Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

·         Be able to demonstrate mature negotiating skills, including with families and within multidisciplinary settings.

4.    Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:

·         Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.

·         High level interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team & attributes necessary for ongoing team building.

·         Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence based best practice. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.

5.    Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system. Demonstrate considerable ability to work seamlessly and synergistically across departments as and when required, where this is in the interests of patient care.

6.    Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by:

·         Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude.

·         Commitment to self -care and personal development.

·         Capacity to maintain personal integrity, tolerate stress and demonstrate resilience.

·         Commitment to building relationships, leading, and developing others.

·         Results and outcome focused.

7.    Commitment to good governance, achieving results and managing risks.

8.    Demonstrated commitment to Education, Training and Research, as applicable to the position.
