What you'll be doing
As the Fire Safety Manager, you will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of fire safety systems, policies and programs across Western Sydney Local Health District. You will provide specialist expertise to support compliance with NSW Health policy, fire safety legislation and best-practice risk management frameworks while fostering a culture of safety and preparedness.

  • Manage fire safety systems, inspections, compliance programs and annual certification requirements across multiple facilities.

  • Deliver practical fire response, evacuation and emergency preparedness training to staff across the district.

  • Lead fire safety risk management activities, including hot works, fire system isolations, impairments and incident investigations.

  • Provide expert advice to executives and senior managers on fire safety compliance, emergency planning and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate fire safety audits, defect rectification, annual fire safety statements and stakeholder engagement with emergency services.

How to Apply

  1. Significant experience in fire compliance and safety management of a large portfolio of buildings

  2. Demonstrated experience with managing fire prevention systems including an understanding of legislative requirements and guidelines.

  3. Experience in development of Fire Safety Plans and procedures, including Evacuation, Emergency Response and Training plans.

  4. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Fire Safety, Engineering & Risk or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience. Must hold Qualification: TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and FSM – Fire Safety Manager (NSW Healthcare Facilities).

  5. Experience in managing contracts, staff and budgets to ensure fire protection systems are maintained and operating.

  6. Excellent written, verbal, communication, interpersonal and computer skills, including Outlook, Word & Excel

  7. Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of fire safety systems i.e. Hot Work Process, Isolation and de-isolation of Fire systems and other fire safety aspects.

  8. Valid NSW Driver’s Licence and be willing to use it for work purposes.
