Shape the Future of Healthcare Infrastructure

Join Hunter New England Local Health District’s Infrastructure, Planning & Sustainability team and play a key role in ensuring the financial success of major capital projects that directly support the growth and improvement of healthcare across the region.

As a Finance Officer, your strong attention to detail and financial acumen will help ensure projects run smoothly - from budgeting and reporting through to supplier payments and compliance. You’ll work closely with finance managers, facility planners, and corporate teams to support financial operations that make a tangible difference to hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Hunter New England.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manage financial processes including requisitioning, invoicing, journal entries, and reconciliations.

  • Support project accounting and assist with financial reporting for major capital works.

  • Provide payroll data entry and assist with staff pay queries (where relevant).

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with NSW Health procurement policies.

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and professionalism.

  • Prepare high-quality financial documents, reports, and correspondence.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications in Accounting (Certificate, Diploma or equivalent) or relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in financial management within a large, complex organisation.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and accounting systems such as Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, TechOne, or similar.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.

  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills to handle competing deadlines.

  • Understanding of NSW Health or public sector financial processes, policies and procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on collaboration and confidentiality.
