About Us
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is an exceptional environment to advance your career while enhancing your skills and expertise. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we deliver a comprehensive range of public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Regions.

Our Public Health Unit is composed of Communicable Disease Control, Immunisation, and Environmental Health teams that work closely with GPs, hospitals, pathology labs, schools and childcare centres, local councils, aged care facilities, and with other government agencies to protect public health. The team provides advice and education and enforce public health legislation such as the Public Health Act 2010, the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2008 and the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000.

We are seeking a skilled Environmental Health Officer to apply evidence-based practice in a consumer-focused environment, stay abreast of emerging technical and policy developments, and contribute meaningfully to the health and wellbeing of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District community.

The successful candidate will manage and conduct environmental health surveillance, respond to hazards and diseases with environmental sources, and exercise powers of entry, investigation, and inspection under relevant legislation. The role involves developing strategic relationships with stakeholders across government, industry, and academia to support public health objectives, and overseeing the monitoring of services to ensure compliance with public health responsibilities. You will also conduct assessments of State Significant Developments, contribute to whole of government responses, and prepare high level advice and briefings for senior leadership and government representatives.

This is a dynamic opportunity to apply evidence-based practice in a consumer-focused environment, and to contribute meaningfully to the health and wellbeing of the community.

If you're passionate about environmental health and ready to make a lasting impact, we invite you to apply and join a team committed to excellence in public health.
