Today, Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospitals’ state of the art facilities and professional staff provide a unique blend of general and specialist medical services for the public and community, including a 24 hour emergency services, general medicine including close observation unit, perioperative services, specialist hand and eye surgery.

The Sydney/ Sydney Eye Hospital Emergency Department (SSEH ED) provides Level 3 Emergency with resuscitation and diagnostic capabilities. Our ED is centrally located in the CBD - providing service to tourists, city workers, the homeless as well as Residents of the CBD.
- The Emergency Department provides Emergency Services 24/7 365 days per year.
- The Emergency Department is on 24/7 integral part of planning and response standby for all major CBD and Domain events including Vivid, Mardi Gras and NYE events. The ED sees diverse presentations and is the primary referral for hand and eye injuries and trauma.
- The ED has 6 x acute beds, 1 x resus bay and 4 x sub-acute beds, 2 consultation room, and 2 eye assessment cubicles, 2 eye consultation rooms, 1 isolation room, 1 procedure room, 1 safe assessment room.

The Role

The Enrolled Nurse delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital consistent with SESLHD and [specify hospital] policies, procedures and standards.
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and assists in the provision of nursing care. Enrolled Nurses retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions.

Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

Selection Criteria:
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Holds a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, other care providers, hospital clinicians, immediate team members and other stakeholders
- Supports working in a person centred environment
- Current professional practice knowledge base
- Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
- Knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Enrolled Nurse in applying these principles.
